Work Visa (Malaysia)
The work visa is a permit for foreign nationals to legally work and reside in Malaysia. This visa is bound by an employment contract, with a maximum employment period of 60 months. Any Malaysian company intending to hire a foreign national must first obtain approval from the Expatriate Committee (EC) or relevant authorities. Subsequently, the Malaysia Immigration Department will issue the work visa for the employee.
Application Requirements
1. Foreign Nationals / Knowledge Workers / Technical Workers
- Holds a bachelor’s degree or higher, with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a relevant field; or
- Holds a diploma from a college, five-semester program, or associate degree, or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in a relevant field; or
- Holds a technical certificate or equivalent, with a minimum of 7 years of work experience in a relevant field.
2. Shareholders
- Shareholders must own at least 30% of the company’s shares; and
- Must be a director registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia and/or hold a significant position in
the company.
