Eligible Applicant Categories
1. Professionals Holding Employment Pass or S Pass
Foreign professionals with a valid Employment or S Pass, stable income, and demonstrable contributions to Singapore’s economy are eligible to apply.
2. Spouses and Children of Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
Legally married spouses and unmarried children under 21 of Singapore Citizens or PRs may be sponsored for PR, subject to documentation and ICA approval.
3. Parents of Singapore Citizens
Biological or legally adopted parents of adult Singapore Citizens (aged 21 and above) are eligible under family reunification provisions.
4. Global Investors (GIP Applicants)
High-net-worth individuals who meet the Economic Development Board’s (EDB) qualifying criteria under the Global Investor Programme—including significant business track record and capital injection—may apply directly for PR.
5. International Students in Singapore
Students who have resided in Singapore for an extended period, completed full-time education, and passed at least one national exam (e.g., PSLE, GCE ‘N’, ‘O’, or ‘A’ levels) may qualify, subject to integration potential.
6. Other Exceptional Applicants
Individuals with unique qualifications or contributions—such as research scientists, artists, or holders of special passes—may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Singapore PR Validity & Renewal
Initial Grant
PR status comes with a 5-year Re-Entry Permit (REP), required to maintain PR while abroad.
Renewal Criteria
To renew the REP, applicants must show:
- Ongoing Economic Contribution – Active employment or business interests in Singapore.
- Physical Presence – Sufficient time spent residing in Singapore.
- Social Integration – CPF contributions, family ties, or children in local schools.
Note
PR status remains valid only with a valid REP; overseas PRs without renewal risk losing their re-entry rights.
