Personalized Employment Pass

The Personalized Employment Pass (PEP) is a special work pass issued by the Ministry of Manpower in Singapore for high-earning foreign professionals. It is not tied to a specific employer, allowing pass holders to reside in Singapore for up to 6 months during periods of unemployment while seeking new job opportunities. Additionally, foreign executives with several years of work experience can apply for this pass directly without first securing employment in Singapore.

The PEP is not restricted to a single employer, providing flexibility for its holders to explore any desired employment opportunities in Singapore.

Application Criteria

1. Salary: Existing EP holders and foreign professionals overseas must have a fixed monthly salary of at least 22,500 SGD, with an annual fixed income of at least 270,000 SGD. (Applicants cannot obtain a PEP through self-employment)

Visa Validity

The PEP is valid for 3 years and is non-renewable. However, you can apply for another type of work pass or directly apply for Permanent Residency (PR) before the pass expires. PR applications can include family members.

Each family member must submit a separate application, even if they currently hold a Dependant’s Pass or Long Term Visit Pass. Family applications can be submitted together with the PEP application.

Benefits of the PEP (Personalized Employment Pass)

1. No Employer Sponsorship Required: Experienced foreign professionals can apply directly without needing to secure a job in Singapore first.

2. Flexibility in Job Search: PEP holders can stay in Singapore for up to 6 months while seeking new employment opportunities. The pass is not restricted to a single employer (holders can work for multiple employers simultaneously). If changing jobs, there is no need to reapply for a new pass; only a notification to the Ministry of Manpower is required.

3. No Industry Restrictions: PEP holders can work in any industry, except for certain regulated professions such as medicine, dentistry, architecture, and law, which require additional registration.

4. Family Benefits: PEP holders can apply for Dependant’s Passes (DP) for their spouse and children under 21 years old, and Long Term Visit Passes (LTVP) for their parents.

Processing Time

The processing time for a PEP application is approximately 4-6 weeks. Once your PEP application is approved, you will receive an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter. You must enter Singapore and collect your Employment Pass within 6 months.
