2023 WEA Awards -《Lianhe Zaobao》 report
In 2023, at the Singapore WEA Awards ceremony, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Culture, Community, and Youth, Ms Low Yen Ling, stated: “Out of every 8 companies in Singapore, 1 has a female CEO, making it the highest ratio globally.”
This also reflects Singapore’s strong emphasis on enhancing the status of women, showing that women can achieve self-worth through equal opportunities.
The 2023 awards ceremony marks the first resumption since 2019 after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic. There were 80 female entrepreneurs nominated by the organizing committee, with 17 receiving recognition, and only 5 women receiving the Phoenix Award. The Phoenix Award is a special award presented only in 2023 to commend women entrepreneurs who have shown resilience and courage in the face of the pandemic.
Among the recipients of the Phoenix Award is Elsie Liow.
