Victoria’s state sponsorship quota closes at 5:00 PM on April 23rd! There’s a possibility that next year’s quota won’t increase!

  • Article Release Date: April 24, 2024

We have received notification from the Victorian government that the deadline for ROI registration will be set at 5:00 PM on April 23rd.

Based solely on the invitation data provided by the state government for this fiscal year, the situation appears tense: a total of 3300 quotas were allocated, of which 3200 have already been utilized, with the breakdown as follows:

  • 2700 invitations were issued for the 190 visa category.
  • 600 invitations were issued for the 491 visa category.

Indeed, only 100 quotas remain! We anticipate that these 100 quotas may be released at the end of April or early May. As a reminder, if your points are high, you may want to consider seizing this opportunity.

Now, which professions might these lucky 100 individuals belong to? We can make some simple predictions:

  1. There is unlikely to be much allocation for “Three Treasures” professions, as they are typically reserved for the 189 visa category.
  2. Based on past records, we predict that invitations will likely be extended to professions that have historically been in demand, such as software engineers, civil engineers, and other engineering disciplines.

As for next year’s quotas, we anticipate they will be similar to this year’s, especially considering the upcoming 2025 elections, which may discourage state governments from significantly increasing quotas. Therefore, for visa categories like the 190 visa, there may not be much exciting news until after the points-based system reform.

Additionally, the new fiscal year is expected to commence invitation rounds from August onwards, so we eagerly await any new policies that may emerge between May and August.
