Singapore Citizens: Skip the US$100,000 H-1B Fee! Here’s How.
Big news for Singapore professionals!
The U.S. Embassy in Singapore has confirmed —
the new US$100,000 H-1B visa charge does NOT apply to Singaporeans.
Instead, you can apply under the H-1B1 visa —
a special category under the U.S.–Singapore Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

What’s the Difference?
- H-1B: Global professionals | 3-year stay | Renewable once (another 3 years) | Must leave the U.S. for 1 year before reapplying | Can apply for Green Card
- H-1B1: Singapore & Chile only | 1-year renewable (up to 3 years) | No PR path | Further extensions only possible with a new Labor Condition Application (LCA)
Both cover the same professional fields — engineering, IT, biotech, medicine & more.
Official U.S. Program Facts:
5,400 visas reserved yearly for Singapore citizens
1,400 for Chile citizens
